Have you ever wondered how a patch is designed-and how it goes from
an idea in someone's sketchbook to something thousands of Girl Scouts
wear with pride? In this hands-on workshop, girls will step into the
role of artist and designer to help create the official 2026 Festival
of the Arts (FOA) patch!
During the first part of the session,
girls will explore how art, design, and business come together to
create something meaningful. We'll talk about how designers think
about symbols, color, and storytelling when creating artwork that
represents an event or community. Girls will also learn how a design
moves from concept to production.
Then it's time for studio
time! Each participant will sketch and develop her own patch design
inspired by the spirit of the Festival of the Arts.
At the end
of the workshop, every girl will have an opportunity to submit her
design. The FOA planning committee will review all submissions and
select 3-5 finalists. Those designs will be shared with the community
for a Facebook vote to choose the winning patch.
The winning
design will become the official 2026 FOA patch, with 2,500 patches
produced and distributed to participants at the festival.
Come
ready to imagine, create, and make your mark on Festival of the Arts history!
Event is located in Louisville, KY.
Registration deadline is 04/25/2026.
