Girl Scouts of Kentuckiana is governed by a Board of Directors, which provides strategic leadership, advocacy, decision-making, policy development, and oversight.
Our Board of Directors is made of volunteer members elected to serve in their roles for a specific term. This is a diverse group that spans the geographic areas served by our council. Together, they bring a wealth of Girl Scout knowledge, specific strengths, and corporate expertise related to the council’s business needs.
Board members are elected by the council’s membership, as represented by voting delegates at the Annual Meeting. Although board members are elected as individuals, the Board of Directors functions as one body in deliberating and decision making. The Board also creates and empowers various Board committees, which each fulfill specialized responsibilities to act as topical advisors. Find full information on the Board committees here.

Board Committees
Several Board committees support our council by helping members and elected leaders make informed actions. Committee members work closely with fellow volunteers, staff, and others to understand perspectives, provide fact-based analysis, and make recommendations to others.
The working Board committees focus on dedicated topics: the Audit Committee, Finance Committee, Fund Development Committee, and the Properties Committee.
Committee members are appointed to serve by the Board Chair and ratified by the Board. Each Board committee has an individual charter which guides its focus and responsibilities. Committee recommendations come forward at open Board meetings, which all council members are welcome to attend and observe.
