There are many ways to support Girl Scouting financially:

Partners in Building Hope Together: Habitat House Build Project

To celebrate our 100th Anniversary, the Girl Scouts of Kentuckiana will partner with Semonin Realtors, Women for Habitat, and Habitat for Humanity of Metro Louisville to build a house with a green designation. In addition, the Association of Women in Construction have volunteered to act as facilitators for the Girls Build Program to girls in 6th through 8th grades.

Goals

The goals of the project are:

  • To  provide a team building experience for the volunteers, staff, and young women who are involved with Girl Scouts
  • To introduce girls to construction skills and to integrate that knowledge into Habitat’s work in distressed communities
  • To support the work of Habitat for Humanity of Metro Louisville in building great homes, strong relationships and healthy neighborhoods

Needs

  • $43,500 for an eco-friendly house sponsorship
  • Volunteers to help with building of the house in September 2012
  • Volunteers to help with the Girls Build program

This partnership is an opportunity for our girls to understand the importance of helping the community in which they live. Our 100th Anniversary incorporates our girls giving 100,000 hours of community service all over our jurisdiction, which encompasses sixty-four counties in Kentucky and Indiana.

Desserts First

Desserts FirstIn January, Girl Scouts of Kentuckiana holds the annual Desserts First fundraising event in Louisville. Louisville’s finest restaurant chefs create original desserts using the well-known Girl Scout Cookie varieties as the key ingredient and present them for tasting at the Kentucky International Convention Center.

This signature event is open to the public at large and creates an opportunity in which adult guests may network and enjoy an evening with friends, while sampling delicious, one-of-a-kind desserts created for this event only. The evening also includes music, hors d’oeuvres, silent and live auctions, a judging crowning the best dessert of the event, and many more surprises! Guests will also vote and participate in the “People’s Choice” awards.

All funds raised from this event go to Girl Scouts of Kentuckiana, which serves over 23,000 girls and 6,700 adult volunteers in 64 counties in central and western Kentucky and southern Indiana. Tickets: $50. Corporate tables available for $1000.

Desserts First events are also held throughout the year in Bowling Green, Paducah, Madisonville, and Owensboro. For more information, please call Suzy Gessner at 502-636-0900, ext. 23300 or sgessner@kyanags.org or visit the website area dedicated to these events.

Some easy ways to save change and make a difference:

  • Mom can donate the loose change in her purse when she comes home from work.
  • Dad can donate any change he saves by using coupons at the grocery store.
  • Your family can look under the couch cushions – you never know what loose change you might find!
  • Make it a fun family project to support Girl Scouts.

Girl Scout Cookie Program

Supporting the cookie program helps girls develop self-confidence, business skills, and teamwork. All registered Brownies, Juniors, and Girl Scouts ages 5-17 are eligible to participate in the annual sale, which generates revenue for both the troops and the local council. Troops use the money for pins and badges, program materials, and special activities. Cookie revenue helps the council recruit, train, and support volunteers; offer program activities and summer camps at a very low cost; maintain council properties; and offer financial aid in the form of scouterships to ensure that Girl Scouting is available to all girls, no matter their economic status.

Thanks to all of our cookie customers! Remember, the cookie program runs from January through March each year. If you want to purchase cookies, or if you would like to donate cookies to an organization as part of our Gift of Caring project, please let us know. Fall Product Program

The Fall Product Program usually occurs annually in October and is a way for troops to finance planned activities and events. The fundraiser offers to the public the QSP quality magazine/music program, as well as items from the Ashdon Farms Nuts/Candy program.

Proceeds from the Fall Product Program help support maintenance of camps, financial assistance, and girl program opportunities. Parental and volunteer support is crucial to the success of this council-sponsored, money-earning activity. For additional information on the sale, please contact Karen Smallwood, 502-636-0900 ext. 24200 or 888-771-5170 or visit the special section dedicated to Fall Product Program.
