Become A Girl Scout
Girl Scouting is where today's girls can become tomorrow's leaders. Membership in Girl Scouts is open to girls grades K-12. Most girls join a local troop for fun and friendship, but they also find out about building character and self-esteem and serving their communities—the core qualities of Girl Scouting. In Girl Scouts, girls find a safe place to grow and share new experiences, learn to relate to others, develop values, and contribute to society.
None of the Girl Scouting experience will be possible without volunteers. These dedicated individuals have a unique opportunity to not only become troop leaders but allow our girls to learn through your personal experiences and talents. Women and men age 18 and over can join as adult members.
The Girl Scout program is based on the needs and interests of girls. All members:
- Share the Girl Scout Promise and Law.
- Follow safety guidelines.
- Pay national dues of $12.00 and a local council operational and programming service fee of $12.00.
NOTE: The additional council operational and programming fee is for girl members only. Adult members are not required to pay this fee.
Girls Scouts of Kentuckiana is committed to providing a positive experience to every girl who wants to be a Girl Scout. No Girl Scout will be left behind. Financial Assistance is available so that a family’s economic status will not be a barrier to any girl’s ability to participate in Girl Scouting. In general, families should be prepared to pay what portion they can for registration and local council fees. Any outstanding portion of a girl’s fees can then be covered through other means, which includes cookie dough and financial assistance from the council. Those who may have an interest in financial assistance can find out more about how to apply from their troop leaders, or by contacting the council directly.
