Getting our hands dirty building the leaders of tomorrow:  Summer Resident Camp

Our summer camps are magical places where learning and growth go hand in hand with fun and friendship. Girl Scouts of Kentuckiana offers girls a wide range of summer resident camp programming options. For information on your Area Day Camps please check out the day camp page.

General Information

Summer resident camp is held at two of our camping properties. Both of our summer resident camps are proud to be American Camp Association Accredited.

  • Camp Pennyroyal, a beautiful wooded camp, 15 miles south of Owensboro, KY featuring hiking trails and a peaceful eight-acre lake for swimming, canoeing, and funyaking (sit on top kayaks)
  • Camp Bear Creek, houses our summer resident camp Bear Creek Aquatic Camp.  It is located on a bay on scenic Kentucky Lake about 45 minutes south of Paducah, KY, features 200 acres of waterfront property and two miles of shoreline that create the perfect setting for Kentucky's only Girl Scout aquatic camp.
  • Sessions last between 3 to 12 days with special sessions and Troop Core Camp offered throughout the summer at both camps

Who gets to come to camp?

Any girl entering first grade through twelfth grade is welcome at camp. You don't need any camping experience to come to camp, and you don't have to come with a friend.  There will be plenty of new friends and opportunities to learn and grow while you’re at camp!

What will I do at camp?

All sessions will let you experience things like swimming, boating, arts & crafts, playing games, eating meals in the lodge, cooking out, singing camp songs, acting in skits at campfires, learning camping and life skills, and exploring camp.  However, each session also has a special focus designed for different interest and levels of experience.

What kinds of programs are there?

The following is a list of programs that different units often focus on at camp. For an up to date list of what is still open for this summer please check out Ultracamp.

NOTE: The programming we offer at both of our summer resident camper is a direct result of feedback received from girls, parents/guardians, volunteers, leaders, camp staff, and Girl Scouts of Kentuckiana staff.

While you're here, read about our Day Camps/Summer Camporees and our great Camp Properties!
