While archery is one of the oldest weapons and hunting methods, and is still used for its traditional purposes, it is common today as a recreational and competitive activity. There are a variety of styles and sizes of bows and arrows, but they’re all used for one purpose: to hit a target. Girl Scouts of Kentuckiana offers archery programs at Camps Bear Creek, Shantituck, Stem, Houchens, and Whippoorwill. Adult training and certification is required to lead Girl Scouts in archery programs. Training is offered through the Service Center Training Calendars. Another option for girls to participate in archery programs, where the instructor is provided, is through the Troop Adventure Program.
For certified archery instructors to reserve the archery range and equipment at camp see Resource Sheet #650.
