5/18/2013
8:00 am to 4:00 pm

Sponsored by: Boy Scouts & U of L

Who should attend: Cadettes, Seniors & Ambassadors

The Boy Scouts are working with UofL to offer the College for a Day on May 18th.

This one day experience is open to all youth in Jefferson county ages 11-17 (boys and Girls). You do not need to be a Boy Scout to participate. While BSA members will have the chance to work towards earning merit badges, all who attend will gain a valuable experience; learning from a college professor in an exciting career field, in a world class University setting right here in our back yard.  This year we are offering 26 workshops, some are all day some are only half day, so youth may get to take as many as two workshops.

Cost for the day is $15; but those members of your organization who cannot afford on their own, please collect their registration forms and submit to me and we will waive the fee based on your recommendation.

Last year we had 150 Young people attend and mayor Fischer and Congressman Yarmuth both welcomed the students to campus along with the UofL Provost.

There will be campus tours for parents as well as an opportunity to meet with admissions team members.  Lunch will be at the Red Barn!

Space will  be limited to the first 300 students to register.

ALL Registrations need to be received no later than May 1st so we can send a study guide for the workshop they will participate in on time to help them prepare.

Cost $15.00 per person.

Outcomes:

  • Girls gain practical life skills.
  • Girls promote cooperation and team building.
  • Girls feel connected to their communities, locally and globally.
