Junior Aviation Badge Day
Date & Time
3/2/2013
9:00-11:30am
Who should attend: Juniors
Do airplanes, hot air balloons, and space interest you? Sign your Junior troop up for an aeronautical experience and earn the Aerospace Badge. Visit historic Bowman Field, the second oldest airport in the southeast region of the United States to take a tour of the control tower, a flight school, fly a paper airplane, and climb aboard a real airplane and hot air balloon.
Meet female flight instructors and airline pilots. Do you have the right stuff to be an astronaut? We’ll let you know. You will even try some space foods. Ever see a hot air balloon up close? Meet a balloon pilot. How about being an aircraft mechanic?
Learn about aviation yesterday and today and we’ll even tell you what is in store for tomorrow. Find out about flying before you were born. You’ll learn about Amelia Earhart and the Powder Puff Derby and meet a female military pilot.
This is a totally “unmanned” experience as all presenters are qualified women in the field of aviation! (Top secret: You do not have to be a math and science whiz for all aviation careers!)
Sponsored by the Kentucky Bluegrass Ninety-Nines, an international organization of licensed women pilots.
Cost is $10.00 per Junior Scout. No tagalongs allowed. Questions? Call Terri at 502-435-4853. Confirmation letters and directions will be mailed by February 28, 2013.
