Our Goal: Introduce children to the construction industry through a block building competition in an effort to create awareness of and to promote an interest in future construction careers.
What is Block kids? The Block Kids building program is a national building block competition sponsored at local levels. One local winner will advance to the regional competition. Then from the regionals another winner will be selected to go to the National competition.
Who can participate? All elementary school children grades 1-5.
When : January 30th at 6:00pm

How it works: Each participant will be given 100 blocks each. They must use a minimum of 25 and a max of 100 blocks to complete their project. Use of specialty pieces (doors, windows etc.) is prohibited. Each participant will also be given 1 small rock, 1 piece of string, 1 piece of foil & 1 piece of poster board. However, only 3 of the four items may be used. Each participant will be given 1 hour to complete their project. Each child is permitted to build the project of their choice, provided that in some way it relates to the construction industry.

Additional Information: Judges shall act as monitors during contest. Parents will be provided an area away from the kids where they must wait until the conclusion. All judging shall be conducted using an official scoring form. There will also be oral interview questions for each child. One winner will be selected from the competition. All other participants will receive a certificate & a goody bag.
