Camp In A & B

Camp In A will teach the skills needed to prepare girls for day activities that take place outdoors. Topics covered will include basic outdoor programming for day trips as well as some information for overnights in a winterized building in a camp or outdoor setting.  Participants will gain knowledge in using Volunteer Essentials, GSUSA’s Safety Activity Checkpoints, as well as guidelines and procedures for troop camping. An introduction to the following concepts will be provided as well:  girl readiness, progression, planning, properties, hiking, and emergencies.  Camp In A is valid for 5 years and authorizes registered Girl Scout adults to take groups/troops on outdoor day activities. 

Camp In B will teach the skills needed to prepare girls for overnights in winterized buildings, for example Girl Scouts of Kentuckiana properties, state parks, etc.  Topics included are:  fire safety (preparation and extinguishing), stick cooking, wood stove operation, safety, and building cleanup.  Camp In B is valid for 5 years and authorizes registered Girl Scout adults to take troops camping in winterized buildings.  Prerequisite:  Camp In A.
